So, the Dr Gory project has evolved and mutated like a monster in a lab. Among other things, it's gone from ten minutes plus to a three or four minute trailer. Here are some illustrations and a short piece of animation. The lip sync is a bit off due to technical difficulties, but it's close enough for now...

Gory's Lab

Here's a Sketchup model of a mad scientist's lab for an animated short I'm working on. The short will be in 2D (vector) but I generally like to build a Sketchup model first. This will be used to find camera angles for the storyboards, and then it'll become reference for the background paintings.

Here's a low-res updated version of my alien character. A variant on the PG thumbs up version on the site. Actually, this was the original-- flippng each other the bird was how hotrodders used to challenge each other to a race.

Nurse & Clown

Okay, I'm replacing a low-res version of my last post and adding to it. Here are both the nurse and the clown from my upcoming short subject. All character animation is done in Anime Studio, and the backgrounds are a combination of Photoshop and Corel Painter.

Dr Sketchy's

I attended my first Dr Sketchy's. Basically, it's a gesture drawing class with a theme. Sunday's theme was postapocalyptic, and the model was a seriously lovely woman named Danni. Above are from the ten and twenty minute poses-- they started with one minutes, and worked up.

It was a hell of a lot of fun, and I plan to make the monthly Dr S sessions a habit.

Rat Bastard & The Oracle of Wackyland

Here's a couple of recent pieces. Rat Bastard was for a pinball tournament at a local bar. The Oracle of Wackyland was a sketch I liked, so I digitally inked and painted it. Kind of a lowbrow/pop surrealism thing, named for a Bob Clampett cartoon.

This is a piece I did for the LCS Future anthology. It's kind of a companion to the Toad-Man piece below. Again, very B-movie inspired.

3D UFO Clip

Okay, it's been a while since I've posted, but I've been busy. Here's the first shot of my first 3D Studio Max animation piece. It's basically a remake of my "From Outer Space" piece, but with more bells and whistles. Enjoy.
